Business Development Manager

About the role

This is the first commercial seat in Indonesia, and it exists because the engineering is already here. OneMinded builds software and applied AI for Dutch clients out of a substantial team in Jakarta. What we have not done yet is sell what that team can do to the market it sits in. That is the job: find the Indonesian companies who need it, get into the room, and close the work.

We are honest about what this is and what it is not. There is no inherited pipeline, no local brand and no playbook waiting on a shared drive. What you do get is a delivery organisation that already works, references you can actually show, and founders who will fly in for a deal that matters. If you want a built funnel and a defined territory, this is the wrong advertisement. If you have wanted to open a market rather than manage one, there is exactly one seat like this here and it is this one.

The role is crucial in the literal sense: what you sign decides what we build in Jakarta next, and how fast this office grows. That is a lot of influence for one person, which is the point.

What you'll do

  • Build the Indonesian pipeline from the ground up: research, outbound, your own network, events, partnerships. Whatever genuinely returns something, measured rather than assumed.
  • Run the full cycle yourself, from first conversation to signature. These are consultative deals, not a price list.
  • Qualify hard and say no early. A bad fit costs delivery more than it earns sales, and the team here pays that bill.
  • Translate a business problem into what we can actually build, together with the Tech Lead and the engineers in Jakarta. You do not design the solution, you know when to bring an engineer into the conversation.
  • Be straight about AI. Clients will ask for it because it is the word of the year. Part of this job is saying when a simpler integration or automation serves them better, and keeping the trust that honesty buys.
  • Use our own AI tooling in your own workflow, for research, preparation and follow-up. We improve our internal operations with the same tools we sell, and sales is not exempt from that.
  • Set up the commercial foundation: CRM hygiene, a forecast that holds up, and a process the second commercial hire can run.
  • Feed the market back to us. If Indonesian clients want something different from Dutch ones, we want to hear it early enough to do something with it.

How we work

You are the first commercial hire in Indonesia, and you are not starting from nothing: the engineering team here is already substantial and already delivering. That means you sell something that exists. You can walk a prospect into a room with the people who will build their software, which is a very different conversation from selling a promise. Lines are short. No layers in between, no steering committees, and direct contact with the founders in Eindhoven, who travel to Jakarta regularly. Your counterparts on the delivery side are pre-sales and the lead developer, so what you promise a client has been checked by the people who will build it. Fixed overlap hours keep the working day genuinely shared with the Netherlands rather than handed over at the end of it. We hold ourselves to the same standard we sell: our own daily operations get improved alongside client work, and when something we built ourselves stops holding up we rebuild it rather than patch around it.

Bonus points

  • An existing network among Indonesian mid-market or fast-growing companies, and a sense of who actually signs.
  • You have sold software development, IT consultancy or managed services rather than a product with a price tag.
  • You have opened a market, a region or a new proposition before, and can walk us through what worked and what did not.
  • Experience selling alongside a technical team, and comfort in a room where you are not the most technical person present.
  • Experience with international companies operating in Indonesia, or with clients in Singapore and the wider region.

Growth, and what we offer

Where we are right now, so you can judge what you are joining: the Jakarta hub is expanding, and our clients are in the Benelux and the wider EU. That is where the focus sits. Our Dutch engineers sit with the client and build the work together with the team in Jakarta, on the same day rather than across a handover, because what we are working towards is being the technology partner a client trusts with the things that matter rather than a supplier you send a specification to. Growing into the Indonesian market comes after that, and the first commercial seat in Jakarta is where it starts. You arrive while all of this is still taking shape.

  • A competitive salary benchmarked against the Jakarta market for senior commercial work, with a bonus tied to what you actually close, reviewed every year.
  • Year one you prove the Indonesian market with your own pipeline. Year two you build the commercial team around it. This seat becomes a country lead if you make it one, and when a lead role opens we look inside the team first.
  • We listen to our OneMinders. If you see a better way of working, you get the room to develop it and the backing to actually roll it out. Your opinion counts here, and this company is shaped by the people in it.
  • An annual learning budget tied to that path, not a perk that nobody claims.
  • Hardware of your choice.
  • Direct access to the founders. There is no layer between you and a decision, including decisions about which market we go into next.
  • Work that funds something: every project contributes to educational initiatives in Indonesia.
  • The chance to work with, and travel to, the team in the Netherlands.

How we hire

You speak with the people you would actually work with, not a screening layer that passes you on. The process is the same in Eindhoven and in Jakarta, and from your application to an offer takes three to four weeks.

  1. 1

    The founders

Why us, why you, and whether we mean the same thing.

  2. 2

    The Tech Lead

The work itself: the substance of the role, and what you would actually be doing in it.

  3. 3

    A teammate

Someone you would work with daily, not the person who would manage you.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in B2B sales or business development, with responsibility for closing rather than only for booking meetings.
  • You have carried a target and hit it, and you can talk honestly through a deal you lost and why you lost it.
  • Bahasa Indonesia at native level for the market you sell into, and professional English, spoken and written. You work with Dutch colleagues every day, so the English is a hard requirement.
  • Enough technical grip to hold a credible conversation about software and AI without overpromising. You do not write code, you do understand what you are selling.
  • You work without a playbook and write one as you go. Nobody here is going to hand you a script.
  • You take a problem to the people who can fix it, including when it sits outside sales.
  • Do not tick every box? Apply anyway if you bring real depth, projects you are proud of and knowledge you can demonstrate. That weighs more heavily with us than an exact number of years.
